We had a beautiful morning birding the lake and trails at Fort Cooper State Park. The biding was slow, but we managed 41 species. Some of the highlights include great scope views of a Least Bittern and Purple Gallinules, along with Bald Eagles, Swallow-tailed Kites, and the usual assortment of birds for this time of year. The checklist for the day can be viewed at this LINK. After birding, we all gathered for our annual picnic, and enjoyed fired chicken, a variety of tasty side dishes and deserts and had a great time socializing. A big thanks goes out to all that participated in our events, and we look forward to seeing all of you next season!
